What's in your bottle of glue?
Often, we’re so focused on The Big Picture that we lose sight of the significant. The truth is that The Big Picture is merely an illusion. We foolishly believe that when we accomplish a goal we will have succeeded or “if only…” it is then that we’ll be happy. Something that falsely holds our belief of importance tends to distract us and our vision becomes cloudy. When that happens, we forget to be grateful for the small things – those important things that are the real glue in life.
This past year, many clients have allowed me to share their pain. I’ve been humbled often by their personal stories. It has been because of their sharing that I’ve gained compassion and remembered to be appreciative. I’m most grateful for the children who have trusted me enough to share their secret, because with that sharing came renewed faith and healing – for each of us.
Throughout my struggles this past year, a caring and supportive circle of friends has been a godsend for me. I would never survive without them and appreciate them so much.
Allowing yourself to be wholly vulnerable with another is the supreme test of trust. It is only through shared trust and acceptance of who we truly are as individuals that we can be fully open to love. This year, the gift of his love has been my greatest blessing.
When we’re in the thick of the tough stuff, it’s difficult to embrace gratitude. It may not be easy to couple gratitude with tough lessons, but until we’re able to embrace that union as a powerful one, we can’t truly be receptive to growth. I’m grateful for the tough lessons; those lessons have opened my eyes, my mind, and my heart. It is from the toughest lessons that I’ve grown the most.
Nearly anyone could commiserate when discussing the topic of struggles this past year. We’ve all had challenges and disappointments; such is the stuff of life. When we fall headlong down the mountain, it only matters that we get back up. We may receive wounds during the battle and earn scars of varying depths as a result. Scars may fade in time, but they are not for hiding; scars are an important part of who we are.
Today, I honor my scars and express gratitude for those who truly matter. Thank you for being my glue. What a bountiful harvest. Praise Be.
Namaste,
Tami
