This weekend was a good one. Signed books at a comedy show at Luna Del Sea (the food was excellent) then headed to the Sky Loft in Canton! Someone said DJ Charissma was back in town to rip it for the house heads in Baltimore... and boy did he!
Let's talk about the criteria for a live house music party. First, you must hear the base making the windows vibrate as you park your car! (Can you say... Wow?) Then there's the cast of characters in line of all ethnicities and backgrounds (dare I say lifestyles, lol). Finally; a party just a'int a party unless it begins after twelve o'clock! (What? Do these people have jobs? lmao!) But, it's that type of setting that let's you know you're in the right place for a good time... responsibility to the wind!
Let me take you inside to a warehouse setting complete with big speakers, smoke, and tons of people in their own little worlds bobbing their heads. Then the lights dim and the speakers say, "If you haven't danced yet, what the F%*k did you come for?" scratched in by the opening DJ as he dropped the beat! The crowd went wild and people started dancing all over the place; on the speakers, the chairs, in line for the bathroom and oh yes... the dance floor. If that wasn't enough, someone soon pulled out a video camera and a house dance battle broke out in the middle of the floor!
Believe it or not DJ Charissma, the main attraction, hadn't even hit the turntables yet! But when he did, the party went to another level; starting with classic house then building to new and funky heights! By that time all you could see was a sea of heads turning, spinning, and having a good time. Honestly, I've rarely seen a party or club for that matter, where absolutely everyone is dancing. The bartenders, the ticket people, the waitresses, stage hands, the crowd, I mean e-v-erybody was dancing like their lives depended on it. Everyone except for me, in my all white suit, I just stood there in awe of this underground phenom!
The thing I enjoyed most was the fact that there were people of all ages partying together with no problems! It would be an excellent place to take your lady or party alone.
