A Great Soul....

I don't know about you but I just read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, then I saw the movie. My conclusion is that Hunter S. Thomson was a great soul and a visionary journalist. I highly recomment the work of this pioneer journalist, especially if your sympathies are with the sixties when people still had enough balls to protest an unjust war.... Get the hint! I was only puzzled by his untimely death and the fashion he chose in which to die. That kind of thing gives everybody a bad feeling, and is followed by a sense of hopelessness and utter futility in the human condition. After all, I expect that to a mind that was radical in nature the subsequent decades might have looked like we are getting farther and farther away from the ideals of peace, love, and brotherhood. I would imagine that he was appalled by suicide bombers and our fight fire with fire reaction. Don't get me wrong, I in no way condone the taking of life on this planet or any other. But how can we stop violence of this nature when it is founded upon ignorance and fanaticism? We must find a way to have mutual respect for our differences and especially for our different belief systems. Otherwise all life might just come to an abrupt end on our planet. We are all related beings, nothing can exist without nature. We have so much to learn... And Hunter, if you can hear me, good luck up there.

My new story is inspired in part by Hunter S. Thompson, I got to see Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas. My room mate actually owns his movie, so I sat down and watched it. I learned a lot about the writer because I also played around with the idea of writing gonzo journalism. His work played a lot into the use of drugs, but at the same time it was really disturbing. The movie was very accurate to how he came up with the book.
