What a week The world saw that it was quite a week Democracy gone without a tweak Democrats won fairly some time ago Republicans claim the result a woe But we criticise African countries when voting is overturned. Now America has shown its divisions wide open. I'm afraid America has been the laughing stock of the economic family this week. Yes, sorry to say so but that is the European perspective. In our hearts we knew that on the 11th hour your economy would be saved at a price. But what a price. It shows the fragility of the dollar. Sorry politicians, you have let us all down.

Don't get me wrong. I love America and Americans and many of my family are now Americans in Maine; Colorado; Atlanta and LA. But I hope what happened this week wont happen again.

Martin's cynicism aside, you are right. I'm beginning to hate all this patriotic crap and foot dragging when it comes to bringing the United States to be a part of 21st century reality and a real member of the united countries of the world. We can't let our country be run by the special interests of multinational corporations operating outside of any governmental control.
