"Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens." --Carl Jung
I tried in my poem, "Dark Moon", to address the need for perfection in a chaotic world. It seems my talents for expression of this topic in that medium are next to non-existent (lol) so I'll leave it to Robert Forese and others whom are more capable, to speak of the ills of society through poetry.
In any time of rapid change, society at large seeks order. This can be manifested by excessive cleanliness, extreme nationalism, racial bigotry, repression of our "lower" instincts (sexuality) and "bad" emotions, the desire to be perfect(right clothes, right body, right house, right car, etc.), and the need for control.
The "Dark Moon" I was referring to was the shadow in all of us which we may try to suppress but its there nevertheless. In denying our shadow selves, we literally deny ourselves and therefore cease to exist in the practical sense-our personalities subdued and our desires channeled to what's generally accepted as popular ideal. We are zombies, we become sheep and live on the surface of what's real . Life loses meaning. Because our shadow brings us to our true selves and in a larger sense, to spirituality.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this so do reply. Thank you...
