"God took the time to mix the batter of the day, and He knew when to put it in the heat. Some of you are feeling like you are going through a furnace of pain and suffering. You can start to rejoice right where you are; He knows how hot to make the oven because He knew what He put in you. No weapon formed against you shall prosper!

God knew what was in the weapon, so He put more in you so the weapon would not prosper! Yea, the oven may be hot, but He will not see you burn in hell. If He knew what He put in you, He knows when to pull you out. Even in the midst of your sorrow, God will dip His finger in the batter, and let you taste how sweet His Joy is. You're not ready for the fullness yet; you have a little bit more baking to do!"

Psalms 118:24

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

David wrote in Psalms 118 a Psalm known as The Lord's Mercy. Without reading the actual Psalm, believers can rejoice in the midst of their troubles by simply reading the title of the Psalm: The Lord's Mercy. It matters not what you are going through; if you will simply add the Lord's Mercy in the batter of the problem, the problem cannot outlast your praise.

The Psalm overflows with praise to the Lord for His wondrous works and worship for the Great God that He is. Many, many sermons can be pulled from this passage, but let us focus on the sentence in the 24th verse.

David writes in this verse, This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. How many times have you read, heard, sang, or recited that Scripture and neglected the Power that is written in it?

What is worse, how many times have you lived your life, knowing this Scripture, but did your part in attempting to turn the Lord into the Liar? David wrote This is the day which the Lord hath made, we will rejoice and be glad in it. The word rejoice means to celebrate, to feel joy, to be ecstatic with joy, and to express that great joy.

Glad means appreciative, being in good spirits (or as I like to say, being in The Good Spirit), having a cheerful disposition, and eager to express appreciation. In other words, we are to celebrate this day, dance in this day, praise in this day, be ecstatic about this day, appreciate this day, be in the Good Spirit because of this day, and be eager to receive this day.

With that being said, look at your disposition right now. Are you rejoicing in this day? Look back on yesterday. Were you glad on that day? Think about how you acted last Monday. Were you happy as you drove to work from a long weekend?

When your children refused to take heed to the teacher's instructions and your warnings, were you praising God for the day? While stuck in traffic, and someone cut in front of you just to drive slower than everyone else, did you find yourself singing praises to the Lord for this day?

If you are honest, you will find yourself answering no to at least one of those questions. Why were you not praising, celebrating, and rejoicing in the day? You failed to praise because you forgot about the day, and got stuck on the hour.

In John 16:21, Christ says, 'A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more anguish, for joy that man is born into the world.' There are 24 hours in a day, but when the woman realizes that her hour has come, she has much sorrow.

The pain is so great, that it seems to cause her to forget about the rest of the day and focus on the pain she has in her hour. What pain she endures but for an hour! The story does not stop there; Christ continues to speak. He said, 'A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered..."

Aren't you glad that God didn't stop us at the pain, but continued to push us through to deliverance? Christ said when her hour is come, she has sorrow, but Oh, when she is delivered! Know ye this, my family in Christ, that your day does not stop at your hour of sorrow! Your hour of sorrow has a prerequisite of preparation and a co-requisite of praise!

When she is delivered of the child, she remembers no more anguish...NO MORE. What happens that she forgets the anguish: FOR JOY. My brothers and sisters, I do not care what your hour brings you, the Joy that Christ gives you will make you forget the sorrow! Christ says your heart will rejoice, and the joy you feel, NO MAN CAN TAKE IT FROM YOU (John 16:22)!

Unfortunately, when I speak of the phrase 'hour of sorrow,' it does not mean 60 minutes. Your hour of sorrow may last an entire day. Your hour of sorrow may last a week. Your hour of sorrow may be for a few years. Truth be told, your hour of sorrow is a season.

There will be times in life where there are disappointments, yet you do not have to be disappointed. As long as you live in this world you will have trials and tribulations, but rejoice;Christ conquered your situations. (John 16:33).

As I attempt to conclude this Sermon (I'm going to preach this thang soon...make sure you come hear it to be blessed!), God told me to tell you not to dread the hour, but rejoice in the day. David said this is the day that the Lord has made. Made means to produce, to create, to contrive.

Remember when Momma used to make those sweet cakes? How she would take the milk, the cake mix, the eggs, and the sugar...and lay them on the table. She did not just put all the ingredients in the bowl; she measured them first. She only put so much milk in the mix; she did not want the cake to be to weak like water. She only put so many eggs in the cake; she did not want the cake to be too bitter to eat.

She only put so much sugar in the cake; she did not want it to be so sweet it would bring more harm than it would pleasure. What I am saying is that Momma knew how much to put in the bowl. She knew she could not stop there, she had to put some elbow grease in it to mix the ingredients to turn into batter. What I like about it is that Momma would let me stick a spoon in the batter and taste the sweetness there in.

She gave me a preview of what was to come. You see I was not ready for the full cake yet; it wasn't time to eat it yet. I still had some vegetables to eat. Momma would then put the cake in the oven, and let it bake. What makes me laugh is that the oven was preheated...she already had the oven ready because she knew what she put in the cake.

Did Momma stop there? No, she let the cake bake for a season, then she took it out. She didn't take it out too early; that would make it fall. She didn't take it out too late; that would make it too dry. What are you saying, Preacher? I'm saying Momma not only knew what to put in the cake, she knew when to bring it out.

Child of God, JESUS made this cake that we call This Day. He knew how much sorrow to put in the bowl. He knew how much joy to put in the bowl. He knew how many friends to mix with the enemies; how many bills to saturate with the pay check.

I don't know who God is speaking to through me, but somebody is about to come out of their oven! This is your day! You can rejoice right now, right where you are! This is your day! I don't care who is around your cubicle at work, this is your day! Rejoice and be glad that He not only made the day, but He formed you so that the day will not outlast you! Somebody has been waiting on a breakthrough for so long, THIS IS YOUR DAY!

Somebody has lost things that were promised to them, THIS IS YOUR DAY! The next time they pull in front of you in traffic, laugh and say "This is my day that My God has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!"

When your manager takes out her frustrations on you, stop her and tell her, "This is the day that the Lord has made, why aren't you rejoicing?"

When you have kept His Word, and the bills seem to rise, laugh at the bills because they last an hour, but THIS IS YOUR DAY!

THIS IS YOUR DAY!
