3 short articles about my Dog and Myself
Today I saw two dogs running along the Interstate. You see this occasionally, and you know it's not very good for the dog. The dog is unaware of the danger. Dogs do not understand the dangers of cars and high speed; they like to sniff and look around, investigate and do the things that dogs do. They go galloping along together, playing together like dogs will; the two dogs are running along the edge of the highway -- totally unaware of how dangerous it is to be there.
Are we humans the same way?
Will we become a "speed-bump" too?
----------------
I look at my dog. I like to be on the floor with my dog. We play together. I look at him. In his own way, he understands things.
What do I understand compared to what my dog understands?
He's just a little guy -- a little animal soul living within a little animal body -- and it's a good soul, in a good body. He is my friend -- my good friend.
I will live much longer than he will, but he will never be gone; he will be in my memory. The things he has taught me will always be with me. He has taught me to see people as GOD sees people. He is a good dog; and I have reason to believe that when I finally return home, he will be waiting for me. I believe that all of my friends, animal and human, will be there, since life is eternal and does not end.
He has a life -- my dog -- and it is just as eternal and endless as my own. It is a different level; a different understanding; but it's still a life from, and life goes on and on and on.
GOD goes on and on and on.
GOD understands.
What can I understand?
What does Dog understand?
-----------------
Often, when I am out here alone in my speeding vehicle, racing across the countryside, seeing all the things there are to see, going places that presumably are necessary. My little Buddy is laying on the seat next to me, all curled up; so trusting and dependent, totally loyal -- it gives me a great feeling of responsibility to look at this little life-form knowing that I have his entire welfare, his well-being in my hands. If I make a mistake as I drive cross-country, I would not only hurt myself, but I would hurt him. I don't want to do that. I love this little guy; I love him very much -- and it is returned in kind. It is nice to have such companionship.
Does GOD see us this way?
I have my woman, who is my number one companion in all things. But for now my little secondary companion travels with me everywhere I go -- it's nice; it's very nice. When I feel great and wonderful, he understands my good feeling. By the same token, when I feel down or grumpy, he's just as aware of that as well.
Does GOD see us this way?
Of course, and if I should take out my anger, frustration, or whatever, on my dog, then, of course, he is no longer so accepting. I don't do this; I won't do this to this little fellow. I don't want to do this to anybody -- I want to be myself, and not give problems to somebody else.
GOD understands.

Unfortunately, many pet owners don't have the same insight, compassion, or empathy for animals. Many people go to work for eight hours or more, leaving their pet in a kennel, sometimes not even big enough to turn around in. Then they let them outside for 5 minutes to do their business, and then feed them the cheapest and worst food possible from home supply stores. Then boss them around for making too much noise or getting into trouble because nobody pays attention to them.
Having a dog is like having a little kid, with even more responsibility.
Would you leave your kid in a kennel all day, spend only a few minutes playing with him or seldom take him to the park? Feed him the least nutritional cheap food possible?
The animal rescue center near my house has over 250 animals waiting for adoption. It is only fit for 200 animals. Don't waste your money on breeders, because there are innumerable pets in cages waiting for you to adopt as their kids, and treat them as such. They will love you unconditionally for doing so. Animals weren't created to exist in cages!
