Azrael is the angel of death.

While that may sound like a tough job from our human point of view, it is nothing short of glorious.
While our loved ones cross over to the beautiful and peaceful (but very busy) Otherside, Azrael helps us deal with what we perceive as a loss.
While it's true that there is a loss of the physical body, Azrael knows that our loved ones are perfectly happy and want to send messages of continued well being even after death.

Azrael provides comfort while we, here in the Earth Realm, grieve for the loss of connection with our loved ones, be they human or animal. As hard as it is in the moments after physical death to reach out to the Heavens, this is something we must do.
Azrael is always ready to come to your aid and let you feel the warmth of the Otherside by connecting you with the soul of the deceased.

Azrael is one of the most persistent of ArchAngels. He knows that it is in these times of such profound grief that separation from the source of all love is at it's peak and he seeks you out to council you back to a place where you can feel the truth of the everlasting nature of our souls.

Azrael can be called upon whenever you feel sad or immobilized by grief of any kind. There are no formal prayers or incantations, all any angel needs is an invitation to assist you.
Simply saying "Azrael, please help me." is enough. He will be at your side immediately. He asks you to take comfort in his presence and when you are ready he will help you make spiritual contact with your loved ones on the Otherside.

Azrael does not use words to comfort but is more about presence and symbols, which is how all angels communicate with us. Although it seems somewhat abstract to most people, angels have a language which we are unaccustom to and it does take some effort to receive what they are always there to offer us. We need not complicate this by intellectualizing their messages, it is a holistic experience to understand the comforts of the angels and cannot be contained on single level like mental or physical. It is when you achieve balance that an angel's guidance/message/comfort is received.
Azrael is not human and does not fully comprehend this grief that we feel as our loved ones make the transition to the Otherside. This is because, from an angel's point of view, it is a joyous time and does not translate into an ending or a ceasing to exist as we humans tend to look at death. Despite the fact that Azrael has no personal grief to deal with, he (for the lack of a more accurate pronoun) has the ability to ease the suffering of any Earthbound creature.
