A recipe for positive living can make each day a little easier.

In order to start living more positively, we must develop positive habits. We can start by eliminating our negative ones. The thing that we habitually do the most is to think. Our minds are at work constantly even when we are asleep. Most of us would not even consider ourselves to be negative thinkers, even if we considered it at all. Yet, we think more negative thoughts than we would believe. We are thinking negatively every time we say things such as in the following examples.
"Oh, I can't."
"I don't think I know how."
"It probably won't work."
When we think or speak in this manner, we are sending out negative thought patterns which produce negative circumstances that at some point in time will manifest in our lives.

Since we are all energy and this energy is interconnected we can affect the energy of others by our thoughts as well. If you have ever been around someone who automatically brings out the worst in you or someone that makes you feel better just by talking to them, then you have experienced the connection of energy that we all share.

When you think negative thoughts about someone else, you are directing that negative energy right back to yourself. Since we are all mere manifestations of the energy source, any negativity directed outward to someone else will have a sort of boomerang effect and eventually make its way back to you, its source. All energy, even in the mode of thought will return to its sender. We have heard for years:
"Do unto others as ye would have them do unto you."
"As ye sow, so shall ye reap."
"What goes around comes around."
These are more than mere words. We hear, but do not listen.

It is very difficult to rid yourself of a negative thought habit. A thought is at the root of all creations. Difficult though it may be, we have to go to the source to make changes. The source is the thoughts. We must weed out the negative thought pattern by the root if we are ever to cultivate a positive thought producing mind. This, no doubt, will take plenty of time. We must have patience and determination in our endeavor to create a more positive environment. All things take time and positive thinking is no exception. You have to be willing to be patient. We don't quit our jobs because we don't get a raise immediately. If you are willing to be faithful in your efforts, you will see results, perhaps sooner than you imagined. It's all up to you. If you really want to change your life, you can.

You have all the necessary ingredients within your own mind to create a perfect recipe for more positive living.

List of Ingredients:

1 Cup: Think good if you want good to happen in your life.

2 Tablespoons: Stop saying, "I can't."

2 Cups: Replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts.

1 Tablespoon: Say positive things about others or say nothing.

2 Teaspoons: See the end result as being a good one.

A Dash: Meditate on good thoughts.

A Pinch: Lull yourself to sleep at night by repeating a positive thought to yourself silently as you drift off, such as "I am healthy" or "I am successful."

1 Tablespoon: Write down your positive thoughts (called affirmations) and read them daily.

A Dash: Pick a positive thought each morning and try to dwell on it whenever you can throughout the day.

A Pinch: Encourage others to think positively. In doing so, you will have the added benefit of helping yourself as you help others.

Mix well with a generous amount of Belief.

Sprinkle with Patience.

Bake at room temperature until well done.

You have the recipe. Now whether or not it turns out well is all up to you.

Serve liberally.

Boy, did I need this recipe at the beginning of this year! Negative thinking is such an easy habit to get into, and incredibly difficult to break.

One thing I have done which is working is to write down all the typically negative thoughts I have "I'm dumb, I'm stupid, I'm so useless" and write more practical thoughts: "You aren't useless, your husband/mother/children/workmates think you're very useful" or "So you made a mistake, you aren't stupid, just human." Then when I catch myself with a negative, I put in one of the practical thoughts and it works much better.

The other thing, I think is to just act. "so what if I think I can't do that? I'll just do it anyway." It's amazing how much easier it is to think positively when you try new things and find out you can do more than you thought.
