Fear and Anxiety

Yesterday I came face to face with someone who exhibited strong emotions of fear and anxiety. She said she was a manic depressive and also had bipolar disorder and that medication only masked the symptoms. She was seeking a more permanent resolution “that’s why I’ve come for prayer,” she said.
And so our leader prayed for divine intervention. Out poured the childhood pain and rejection sustained right through to adulthood. One by one our lady released each area of perceived rejection, offering forgiveness for each one! Out poured her fear and anxiety for her husband who has dementia! Out poured her fear and anxiety for how she would cope should he die! When finally the outpouring was over, she admitted to feeling much relief at finally releasing what was bottled up inside!
As I knew not what either illness entailed, I later sought the dictionary for enlightenment!
Bipolar disorder is a psychological disorder characterized by alternating episodes of depression. A manic depressive is affected with either mania or depression or alternating mania and depression. Simply put, they experience mood swings ranging from euphoria to deep depression!
I never realized how deeply a person’s mind can be affected by these two conditions; how conclusions can be distorted by misguided perceptions, which trigger wild accusations at persons known and unknown!
Some with this condition need constant love and reassurance because buried deep down in their psyche are childhood hurts and feelings of rejection!
Some with this condition can most times feel both dejected and rejected, and convince themselves that they are never accepted. They’re constantly suspicious of the actions of others!
Some with this condition lash out at the innocent with vengeance so extreme; it gives the impression that they might be possessed!
On checking the healing manual for help to restore this woman, it described the root cause as one based on fear and anxiety. Again I checked the dictionary for the meaning of ‘fear’ and ‘anxiety’ because I like to get things right!
To fear is to feel anxious
To be anxious is to be worried and tense
To worry is to be anxious
To be tense is to be emotionally strained
Thus one feels anxiety!
I now have a better understanding of this particular disorder. I pray that in some way those who are afflicted will, in faith, seek help from the greatest Healer of all!
“They that are whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.” Luke 6:31
Incidentally, I checked the healing manual, out of curiosity, for the root cause of several other illnesses: Allergies, angina, asthma, back problems, gall stones, hiatal hernia, hypertension, to name a few. To my astonishment, the root cause was fear and anxiety. This sent my brain in overdrive, and I thought about Jesus teachings. Many times He said “Fear not…” and the Apostle Paul and others made references to fear and anxiety. Why was that? Is it that they knew fear and anxiety could be detrimental to our health?
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear…” 2 Timothy 1:7
“Do not be anxious about anything…” Philippians 4:6-7
“…perfect peace casteth out fear…” 1 John 4:18
I hope this is useful information to someone out there!
