The thought was a simple one. Life, it seems to me is a huge jigsaw puzzle. Each of us has his own unique panorama of life. You can liken it to a beautiful and peaceful scene of a wooded area. A beautiful sunrise or sunset or anything you want. But each one is unique.
A good example is to look back on your life at those situations you got yourself into and could not explain how this happened in the first place.
“How did I let get myself into this?” you may ask yourself and try as you may you simply cannot figure it out.
But then, how is it now that you are older you look back and the pieces seem to fall into place after all. Could it be that each of the pieces, just like the puzzle itself, was not complete yet? That is one thought.
You can liken each piece of the puzzle as one day or even one minute or one second of your life. You can think of one piece of the puzzle or your life as your childhood or maybe it begins the day you got married or the day you came to know Jesus Christ. When I say this I mean the day you, personally came to know Jesus. You were taught by your parents to believe but at one point or another in your life you had to come to know him personally. You and Jesus became one, and not because Momma told me but because you truly came to know him.
Looking back on my life I truly believe that each occurrence in my life that caused me to face myself and try to better myself constitutes a piece of that puzzle. When I truly and personally accepted Jesus it became a piece. The day I met my wife is another piece. Our marriage, the birth of each of our three children, the birth of each of our grandchildren are all pieces but the really distinctive thing about this puzzle is that each piece has to build and grow to its completion before it can finally fit into the puzzle and thereby complete the puzzle. Unlike the jigsaw puzzle we worked on as kids where each puzzle was precut to fit. The pieces of our lifetime puzzle must be fitted by us.
It is sad but true that by the time all the pieces fit and you finally put the last piece in to complete the puzzle it ends there. You may think that is unfortunate but in reality it simply means we overcame and now we are ready to join our Master in eternity.
