My friend was killed on Tuesday evening of November 6, 2007 at her home.

The article below is the first one reported. Since then I have learned scanty details of what happened.

In brief, her son killed her, burned her body in a 55 gallon drum, scattered her bones in an empty field near her home, and ran over them with a farm machine continuously to cut up the bones.

This is the worst horror story that has ever struck so close to me. I have been devastated. I hesitated to share it on AD but I feel a need to talk about and share it with someone.

I first met Mrs. Elliott in 1996 when she, a realtor, handled my purchase of some property. I bought and sold other property through her, and she and I became friends. She was a grand lady with many wonderful characteristics.

She was well known thoughout this entire town and community and will be greatly missed.

Please pray for her grandchildren and other family members.

A | A | A The case of the missing woman in Suwanee County is now being treated as a homicide investigation; and her son is a suspect.         Martha Elizabeth Elliott is still missing. Suwannee County Sheriff Tony Cameron says about one hundred people spent the entire day Friday looking for her. The 79-year-old was last seen Tuesday afternoon around 5:15 by her family at her home off County Road 249. Elliott lives with her son William Robert Elliott and the sheriff says when deputies arrived Tuesday night there were circumstances they were suspicious.         The sheriff says the son is a strong suspect. "He's shown very little interest into her being missing. If you called me right now and said my mother was missing, I'm leaving here and I'm going to go see what's wrong with my mother."         People from several agencies as far Jacksonville, Florida is assisting in the search. Crews are scouring a more than 250-acre radius near the Elliotts' property. The sheriff says cadaver dogs led investigators to the Suwannee River. Dive teams are on-hand there in case something turns up in the search.         Sheriff Cameron says there's evidence that suggests foul play but details cannot be released until lab results and D.N.A. tests are returned.         Elliott's 53-year-old son is in the Suwannee County Jail unrelated to this case. He is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
