I am always talking about my classroom and students so I decided to give you a glimpse of some events inside my classroom...
Above is a collage of a few highlights of the year 2006-2007. The picture in the center is a picture of some wonderful friends of mine that come each year to help my students to better understand the life of Native Americans. I had a great time playing the drum with Earthman. The kids loved it too! The small picture above the drum is a few of my students at our Christmas party showing off their Christmas gifts I bought them. What a cool bunch! To the left I am pictured reading Green Eggs and Ham, and to the right one of my students eating the green eggs and ham we prepared to celebrate Dr. Seuess’s birthday. Below this picture is a picture of me and my entire class posing in the door of the old one room schoolhouse where we spent an entire day we always have a great time and the kids love it. In the bottom right corner three of my students are pictured in front of the old school house near the pond letting our class frogs free. To the left of this picture is my class saying grace as we recreated the first Thanksgiving. We ate beef jerky, nuts, fruit, and popcorn, honey, home made butter that our class made spread on bread, raisons, and drank apple juice. It’s a great experience that I enjoy as much as the kids. The final picture in the bottom right corner my students go to lunch dressed as Pilgrims and Indians for Thanksgiving dinner! These are just a few of the highlights of our school year…I hope you enjoy them!
It Was A Great Year!
As most of you know I teach first grade in the public school system in Kentucky. For me, teaching is more than a job, it’s a dream come true for me, as I’ve known that I wanted to be a teacher since I was six years old. I always pour my heart into my classroom…I get great satisfaction in going that extra mile with my students. I love to see their eyes light up as they learn about a new character in history, discover the adventure that awaits them between the pages of a book, introduced to yet another fascinating part of nature, discover magic within art, and the joy of knowledge. I believe in treating each of my students with respect, and as an individual, I love having fun delving deeper than what is expected. I try to always instill the morals and values that I was taught as a little girl in the very same school. Manners such as thank you, may I, please, excuse me, and your welcome seem minor to many today, but I always take pride and the lunch attendants are always pleased when one of my students say thank you as their lunch tray is handed to them. The youth of today are the adults of tomorrow, my goal is to instill a well-rounded education, morals, manners, and life skills that are necessary to survive in the big world that awaits them while also learning that education can be fun!
