Loosing a friend is painful and this one is for me.
How painful it is to loose a dear fiend. Someone who shares a good part of your life and seems to understand every word you speak. This was my dear friend Carol. I met Carol through an online poetry class. Someone had said something not so kind about a piece I was trying to write and there was Carol defending my work.
Our friendship went from casual comments about each others poetry to a full wonderful friendship. Our lives were somewhat similar Carol dearly loved her family especially her grandchildren. We shared a love of nature and the mountains. Critters always seemed to be a part of what we wrote about.
Carol learned of my love for turtles and I her love for angels. I sent an angel I had to her and her husband carved a turtle for me. We sent cards and then gradually we began to visit on the phone.
Carol started not feeling well and finally went to the doctor. It seems she had cancer and they were unable to locate the origin. Carol went through chemo treatments and we all hoped that she would survive this temporary nuisance.
Carol seemed to have made it through the chemo and the cells disappeared. We went back to poetry class and life as it was before. Unfortunately it was short lived and Carol began to feel very ill again. She blamed it on the flu but I was frightened form the start that it was more than that. Each time I called and she answered the phone or I saw here address in e mail it was a great relief to me. Carol was always bouncy always wanted to make everyone smile.
Right up until I received the news from her daughter that she had died I was sure she would be able to beat this with a positive attitude. I lost a very dear friend when I lost Carol. Those who believe that it is impossible to love someone you have never met need to lighten up and allow love to enter there lives. It was painful to loose Carol but what I gained from her friendship was something that can never be replaced a true forever memory.
Good bye my friend may you rest in peace.

Sharron I loved your heartwarming story about Carol. I understand well what you have lost by losing a friend. It doesn't matter how near or how far away they are, whether around the corner or around the globe. I know the emptiness you feel. I lost my mother in May 2001, and my brother last August. Now there is just Dad and my sister left, and so much is missing, and can't be replaced. Treasure the memories, for I have so many to treasure, and hold on to. Your stories and poems are uplifting, I love them.
Love & Hugs, Joan.
