Sometimes a sweet friendship between

a puppy and a little bird teaches us all

about what really matters...

The sound of the morning is wonderful.

The quiet moments just before the world wakes up.  Most of all,

in the springtime and summer, the sound of birds is just about

like music to me.   I open the door quietly and watch as I notice

the bird made a nest on a ledge of my patio.  If I open the

door too loudly, the bird will fly away, frightened, but somehow,

when my puppy is out there, the bird seems to know it is

safe.

The puppy will go out on the patio really early in the morning, mostly

because he likes being outside in the sunshine, just taking his time.

He sits by the fence and watches for his other friends to come outside

and let him know they are awake.  It's wonderful how animals

just live in the moment, not knowing the next moment, but living

life to its fullest, now, a lesson we in this hurry up world

can observe and marvel at...

I know I do.

The pink and blue clouds overhead smile down upon the little

puppy as he looks up and feels the warmth of the sunshine.

Turning his head, curious at some far away sound, he rushes back

to the patio and looks up, at the birds nest, quietly waiting

for his little friend to return.  Almost like a present, a greeting,

a smile...

I don't know what time means to a puppy, but he waits, almost

knowingly, that his friend is on the way back home.

Soon the little bird flies back to the nest, perches on the side

and sings a song for the little puppy.

The most curious thing happens....

The little puppy gets on two feet and his little paws point upward

toward the nest and he starts to bark and almost smile.

A welcome ??

Who knows?

The bird and the puppy share a moment of quiet understanding

What is going on?

I don't really know but I just think it's

beautiful.

I watch and marvel .....

A lesson for us all....
