Tricks, lies, deceptions of bad police officers...

I needed to write this article to show all of you out there how far "some" bad police officers will go to arrest and trap a citizen, even if you are just suspected of a crime. You don't have to be guilty, just a suspect!

This happens to be an actual case where the detectives "just happened" to be correct, but see what they did to catch the suspect. But if their suspect had been innocent, then he would have been harassed and dealt with unconstitutionally by zealous officers in my opinion. Fortunately they had the right man, but observe the tactics they used. You'll understand why I say fortunately, when you see who the victim was.

Now please understand, I'm glad they caught this person, so don't misconstrue my feelings or this article. But please pay attention to the tactics used and learn from them...and seek an attorney before speaking with any officer. I'm only dealing with the tactics!

In May 1993, a young four (4) year old child was murdered. A horrible crime! They knew the child was murdered, but only had strong suspicions as to who the murderer might be. This happened in New York City, so it was assigned to a New York detective that learned the main suspect may have fled down south towards the Texas area.

The suspect was a male and they learned from his girlfriend, the dead child's legal guardian, that her boyfriend was the last one that had seen the child alive. They didn't know however where the boyfriend was!

Now here's the good part. The girlfriend jointly owed the vehicle that the boyfriend was driving. The police detectives were soo intent and determined to catch up with the boyfriend to interrogate him that they "talked and convinced" the girlfriend to LIE and say her vehicle was stolen so that other police departments nationally might stop the vehicle and arrest the boyfriend! That's exactly what happened, he was stop by Texas police and the New York detectives were notified so that they could interrogate him. The car wasn't stolen though! In essence, it was a false police report originally conceived by a police detective! A lie!

Here are some quotes from the main detective as he investigated and interrogated the boyfriend and actually said on a television show after charging the boyfriend with murder. First quote, "it doesn't bother me to harass people to get to the end result". Second quote, "sometimes you got to be creative" (in regards to fabricating a lie).

Now he just happened to have the right man, and the suspect eventually confess. Imagine if they were wrong though? Imagine you are the boyfriend and you had not committed a murder! Imagine being stopped in another state, even though you committed no violations in that state, but was stopped based on a lie and fabrication in another state... by police officers! His first quote clearly tells even a fool that he's not bothered by harrassing citizens. His second statement tells you that he's willing to do anything to trap anyone "he suspects" of committing a crime.
Even the televison station interviewing the detective stated that the officer was a party to making a false police report! What more do you need?

I for one, and I'm sure many of you, are happy that the right suspect was arrested. But men are known to make mistakes, and if this officer, who is a man, had made a mistake, someone's constitutional rights would have been violated. In my opinion, I still believe the officer should have been admonished by his superiors about reporting a car stolen, when in fact it wasn't stolen! It was a LIE, period!

Cops aren't suppose to lie or be a knowing party to a lie! And if we permit officers to lie, how far can they go? And do you know what the police officer would have said to defend himself if the boyfriend wasn't the murderer? He would have said, " she (the girlfriend) reported the car stolen, not me. The girlfriend would have been holding the bag. I don't think the girlfriend even realize the position that lie could have placed her in.

All of you out there remember this officer's quotes and let that be a lesson to you to shut your mouth and seek a lawyer BEFORE speaking with any police officers, period! Some will LIE to trap you even if you're innocent!
