Tips on avoiding germs in public restrooms.
Millions use public restrooms around the country every day. There must be germs all over the fixtures, doors, mirrors, and sinks, in most public restrooms. These nasty germs might carry everything from cold virus to something more ominous. Well, the best way to avoid this problem is to never use a public restroom. You need a strong constitution for this and it probably ain't gonna happen. So, here are a few tips on avoiding germs hiding in restrooms.
Germ Barriers
Don't touch anything. Keep your hands clean. Of course, it is kind of difficult to avoid touching any of the fixtures in the public restroom. Everyone who enters the restroom touches the same door handles, faucets, and sinks. The CDC advises people to simply use paper towels to block germs and protect hands while using the facilities.
Hand Washing
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) advises people to wash their hands after using the restroom. Use the paper towels to dry the hands completely. They find that using paper towels is the best approach to avoiding germs. Those who use the air dryers have to touch the dryer or press a button to turn on the dryer. In addition, those who use the dryer do not dry their hands completely. They wind up wiping their damp hands on their clothing which leads to picking up and attracting even more germs.
Conclusion
Those who are concerned about germs in the public restrooms should follow some of the tips here. Always use paper towel barriers to open doors, handle fixtures, place on seats. Always completely dry the hands with paper towels and avoid using the air dryers. If you have got to use the air dryers, dry hands completely. Never wipe damp hands on your clothing. Remember to use those paper towels upon exiting the restrooms on door handles.
