BBC Internet News “Have Your Say”

Yesterday, I read a number of opinions offered on the BBC Internet News “Have Your Say” section. There was the usual array of options, ranging from providing more education, much greater financial support, a great increase in the number of armed forces, as well as some less elegant propositions. But all of them had been predicated on the premise that you must fight fire with fire. Since the Taliban, or Al Qaeda for that matter, no matter how insidiously, claims to justify its operations on the wisdom of the Koran, I wonder why, we, the people of the Free World, who (in vast majority) also claim to base our behavior on the postulates outlined in the Bible, choose to ignore, just as studiously, our own scriptural teaching. 

I am referring the single, vital, uncompromising admonition: “Resist not evil”, (Matt. 5:39).

I certainly do not wish to detract or diminish the efforts, and (in many cases extreme) sacrifices, made by many to proffer our cause. Yet, having studied the Sufis, I know how gravely the Islamic extremists twist and bastardize their scriptures. The question is… are we doing any better with the implementation of ours?
