It was so exciting to meet the awesome, wonderful and helpful Authorsden Administrative staff members.  They are fantastic and friendly people.  They answered all our questions, brought snacks and drinks for the authors and passed out brochures, book markers and other marketing materials for the participating authors and they had our books on display.

You get to meet other authors from the den.  We read and comment on each others writing online.  But, meeting these authors face to face was so exciting and fun.  You get to put a real person in front of the pictures, short stories, articles, poems and blogs.  Everything just comes to life.

Then you get to meet potential buyers face to face, you get to hear how the public really feel about your work.  You get to discuss your work with the public.  You get first hand opinions from the children on how they feel about your work. 

Children tell it like it is and how they see it.  Lucky for me, they had good things to say about my children’s books and sketches.  I was most nervous when children and young teens viewed my work. 

Getting book marks, post cards and brochures,etc. out to the public are very important.   Some of them do get back with you and ask more questions about where to buy the books and how long the order takes to reach them.  Your information is out there and even if they don’t e-mail, that information is out there. 

You, also, get the chance to come face to face with famous and celebrity authors.  However, meeting the Authorsden administrative staff members and fellow authors were the highlight of my day

Was it worth going to the Festival of Books?  Yes, it was, it was exciting and fun. I plan to go to more of these book festivals and events.  I definitely plan to go back to The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books next year.   I recommend it for all authors.
