Today everyone get's upset by character descriptions both negative and positive, and is ready to get a rope. I have sailed around the world many times, and have been known to take a drink .I have sailed in Alaskan waters as a commercial fisherman, I have been in the US Navy twice, with two honorable discharges, and currently sail for the SUP,Sailors Union Pacific as a deep sea merchant sailor and never once felt insulted by the term "Drunken sailor" because in clarity of speaking and expeditious understanding sometimes there simply are no other words or phrases that fit a particular situation. Over a period of time we know exactly what is ment when we hear certain words; however just in the same way, I know exactly what it means when some one reference's the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, and would be greatly insulted to be referred as one.
