We’ve all done it.   Driving or walking down a street we see a vendor with towels, socks or other items of interest.   They’ve got the greatest “look alike” or “hottest fashions” and the very thing we’ve been looking for but just hadn’t taken the time to pick up. All of a sudden our “IT’S A GREAT DEAL” adrenalin kicks in and we begin to justify making the purchase with comforting thoughts such as “I can’t beat this price anywhere else, or that extra set of towels are sure going to be a blessing”. We tell ourselves that now we can finally afford to throw out some of those old faithful towels that have long lost their initial appearance of

newness.

Could it be that we have lost our true passion for praise because we have in-advertently thrown out the old in exchange for the new. As a Gospel Radio Announcer re-igniting your Passion to play music which genuinely praises God and generates a desirer in the listener to do the same can be challenging.

 

 

Has the old become so familiar that the new become desirable. Are we flipping the script at the drop of a hat where the new become so familiar that the old become less and less desirable? Playing the latest gospel music just because it gets ratings, or is what everyone wants to hear without first discovering if it is biblically sound becomes more of a burden to the Independent Radio Announces who brokers their own time than to those who have been told by their Station Managers what can and can’t be played. So what do you do when the choice is your? How can you re-ignite your passion for praise without lowering the standards God himself expects from you?

 

 

First you must remember as I had to remember when writing my book “Whose Man Is This?” to examine your true motives. If the motive is only for money or recognition then you already have your reward from the people who freely give those things to you. However I believe with all of my heart that God is still holding Gospel Radio Announcers and Christians to a higher standard. In fact 1 Sam 16:7 reminds us of God’s kind of standards. “But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” KJV

 

 

If you have lost your passion for true praise and find yourself just going through the ropes. Stop playing the music everyone else is playing especially if it is not firmly based on the word of God. Ask God to give you some new songs (or some old ones) that help to refocus you on your primary goal of exposing the world to Jesus. Finally remember that passionate praise brings benefits that the world can’t match. The peace of God and peace with God are just a few. The question is … WHAT WILL YOU DO?
