My recent vacation to Europe was a pleasant and relaxing one. In all honesty, this was a truly deserved vacation considering my daily hectic schedule.
Now, in retrospect, I cannot but thank God for his omnipresence. Many people see vacation time as a time to leave their worries behind. Some try to leave God behind as they make plans and map out exciting tours and shows, while others make conscious effort and determination to exclude God from their vacation as if, if He were present, He would prevent them from having a nice time.
The irony of the matter is that; God must be present to make the trip a peaceful and joyful one. Regardless of our unfaithfulness, God is ever so faithful and true . Although we have the tendency to take a vacation from Him, He on the other hand will not take one from us. He promised never to leave nor forsake us and always to be with us until the end of the ages.
The pleasure, peace and joy that many seek in vacation can only be found in the presence of God.
The frenzy and excitement of tourism makes many vacationers forget the very God who created the mountains, hills and waterfalls. The beauty of creation alone vividly reveals the awesome nature of a God who wants His Children to enjoy and partake in the beauty of nature.
If God were on vacation, the whole universe would be in total chaos. If He were on vacation, who will answer our prayers? Who will shine the stars and show the beauty of the moon, who will demarcate the night from the day? Alas, who will be the shepherd?
Without God, my vacation will not have been pleasant, peaceful or joyful. It probably would have been a chaotic trip to hell.
I pause therefore, to give praise, honor and adoration to the God who needs no vacation. Praise to the awesome God whose glory and beauty fills the earth. Praise to the risen savior and the dawn of creation. Praise to the God who alone is worthy of praise throughout the endless ages. Praise to the immortal, Invisible and omnipresent God. Praise to the God who neither sleeps nor slumbers.
