It is outrageous that some news are known world wide but witheld from the American public.

This morning, October 26, 2009, to follow up on yesterday’s lead story on BBC, I searched The New York times—nothing.

Switched to Washington Post—nothing.

A friend in North Carolina told me the story appeared on page A-2 of his local newspaper. Censorship, reluctance to publish unpleasant news? Pressure? Lack of interest by readers?

For whatever reason, the American public was not being properly informed by the mainstream media.

The story:

A rumor circulating in Kabul that Americans burned a copy of the Koran triggered a massive protest. Thousands of people took to the streets shouting ”Death to America,” waving flags and burning effigies of President Obama.

When police arrived to disperse the crowds, people rioted and attacked the riot police with stones.

The massive show of public discontent in what is considered a fairly safe place for Americans was revealing. If this sort of thing can happen in Kabul, what do the Afghans in the countryside think?

While in Washington the “experts” consider strategy and talk about elections in Afghanistan, the Afghans are sending a clear message—we don’t want you here!

That is bad enough.

What is really, really bad is that the American mainstream media is not keeping you informed.
