To firmly shut down any potential issues from the Far Left or Right, the United States of America really needs DeSantis to run and win on an Independent ticket.
This is mostly an afterthought. You know, we really need to settle this whole who's the man thing for a while. There's some other reasons for DeSantis to run on as an Independent beyond mentioned in the essay 'DeSantis/Beshear' and for 2024 to be a three way face-off to put all this to rest for one or two election cycles.
Not only is DeSantis going to be pigeonholed by some voters just because of Republican association, especially as a young Trump to some Dem voters, his win is more ammo for the two parties to use against everyone. DeSantis doesn't really win if he runs and wins under the Reps. The party wins. Then they claim this as a win for their party and turn it into propaganda to use against us. It doesn't matter which one wins, they both do this. No matter with party wins, the US people lose and are inundated by nonsense prattle about them patting themselves on the backs. Not only do we not need a Biden or Trump win in 2024, we don't need a Dem or Rep win. We need a time out. This shit is getting out of hand and it's time that someone called for a time out and play reset before the Dems and Reps have us shooting at each other for real, and not just on the small scale it's currently happening.
Either side winning is more fuel to that fire, so neither of these parties can be allowed to claim a win for DeSantis if we get him up there, unless we want to risk yet more issues from it. It goes back to the 'advantage' thing I mentioned in an earlier essay. The Far Right radicals will take his win as affirmation of whatever nonsense they think and SOMEONE will act on it. The Far Left radicals will take it as something to protest and burn stuff over. Any Dem version of DeSantis would have the exact same issues of needing to distance themselves from a 'party win' to prevent issues. We basically can't allow any 'party' to claim a win in 2024 if we want things to calm down or to not crank up more. Especially after the shitshow of a few days ago in which people were scammed for votes on a massive scale.

I think it's too soon to come up with the presidential candidates of 2024. As I recall in 2020, a whole cast of characters came forward and were trounced by Trump. But so much shit has happened surrounding Trump's behavior the Republican Party may just decide to kick him to the curb, giving DeSantis the nod.
If the scenario plays out the way you describe, Republican conservatives will be split and lose the election handily. I'm looking forward to new presidential candidates coming out of the younger woodwork and surprising everyone with their popularity.
