Unfinished...
The day starts as does every day...out of bed when the alarm goes off, shower, dress for work, grab a bite or a cup of java , and we're off!
For some there are other factors involved as well, such as getting the kids dressed and ready for school, or feeding aged parents and helping them get into their routine.
Perhaps you're the more organized, methodical kind, with a to do list waiting on the kitchen table.
Nonetheless, we all start the day without giving it a whole lot of forethought of the possibility of it ending...unfinished.
As I retired for the night, or thought I had, this thought became alive in my mind.
Daily we see on the news of countless numbers who leave this world--unfinished.
From auto accidents to plane accidents, a callous shooter in a church or just walking down the street, suicide bombers or just an individual suicide by one grown weary and hopeless of life, and the list could go on and on of those who start a day which ends --unfinished.
Some people are planners and goal setters. These kind have an agenda and do everything in their power to accomplish their daily goals. Perhaps they do...but somehow, somewhere, sometime; the day ends...unfinished.
I worked with a Dr. once, who trained me to start each work day with a written to do list.
He would leave me many voicemails of particulars to do each day. I would write them down, then prioritize them.
Needless to say, many days came to an end...unfinished.
Unfinished--When this word came into my mind, the first thing which followed it was the thought of my novel.
In December, 2008, unemployed, God spoke into my mind one night the beginning of a story. For months, and even years now, from time to time, inspiration comes to continue to write it. But you know what?
It's--unfinished...
Many things in life are left unfinished. Sometimes because of our negligence, sometimes because of sickness, accidents and even death, LIFE causes things, important things to be--unfinished.
But I think the essence of this subject prompted me to be reminded of One who said, "It is finished"...when He breathed his last breath on that old rugged Cross.
Jesus lived a sinless life, and accomplished exactly what was on His to do list before He uttered those words.
As He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane when His prayer was so intense that His sweat became as great drops of blood, (which in medical terms is a condition known as hematidrosis) He prayed to the Father, "If it be your will, let this cup (of death) pass from me...nevertheless, not my will, but thine be done."
He knew from the beginning what His to do list entailed, and He knew He would not leave this world until it was--FINISHED!
So many scriptures flood my mind as I pen these words, but for some of you Bible scholars reading this, you can add them and build you a sermon from it, or perhaps some will even be intrigued enough to google and see perhaps some correlations there.
So I end on this note..we all can take inventory of our individual lives and purpose to finish as many projects, or goals, or even emotions as possible so that in the event somehow our name is called or our number falls, we won't leave behind a lot of things--UNFINISHED!

As a result, my life is finished when that time comes. I have prepared detailed instructions for my family to ease their completion of my last requests. The book I'm currently working on at the time will be my last book, and may or may not get published. It is of little concern to me. Like you wrote, some things in everyone's life end unfinished.
