The American people are the ‘911’ dispatchers in this country who can help rescue the American healthcare system. Like the 911 system, we also have been alerted. Medical groups, whistle-blowers, first-hand consumer accounts, and medical documentation have all described the medical tyranny that threatens us and our families. In a Congressional Testimony, Dr. Linda Peeno said, “We have created a monster system, one in which among other transgressions, a physician can receive a high income for doing the reverse of the profession. Instead of delivering care, a physician can be significantly rewarded for denying it.”
Dr. Abramson said: “What I found over the next two years, researching the research, is a scandal in medical science that is at least the equivalent of any of the recent corporate scandals that have shaken America’s confidence in the integrity of the corporate and financial worlds.”
“We have a multi-billion dollar industry that is killing people, right and left, just for financial gain. Their idea of research is to see whether two doses of this poison are better than three doses of that poison.” Dr. Warner said.
Dr. David Graham, senior drug safety researcher for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said: As currently configured, the FDA is not able to adequately protect the American people. The ’gorilla in the living room’ is new drug approval. Congress has not only created that structure, they have also worsened that structure through the Prescription Drug User Fee Act, by which drug companies pay money to the FDA so they will review and approve its drug.
Dr. Donald Berwick said: “When my wife was in the hospital, no day passed - not one - without a medication error. Tests were repeated, data misread, information lost. Errors were not rare; they were the norm.”
Two old-time American intellects, Abraham Lincoln and Benjamin Franklin, offer timeless advice to us Americans in 2008:
Lincoln said that we can test a man’s character by giving him power and Franklin warned us that it is every American’s responsibility to question authority.
We have received ‘911’ calls, and seen the S.O.S. smoke. We have given the healthcare system power and received their spoils. We have kept silent and watched the system run amuck. We have watched untimely deaths on television and read about them in the news. We know it isn’t working and time is running short. So, only two questions remain.
Will we heed the great American’s advice or are we too apathetic to respond? Will we continue to sit idly by until our own murders take place?
