Despite what we are told by some very unwise self proclaimed purveyors of compassion and other politically motivated opportunists who second guess the people who have protected us for almost 8 years, interrogation of terrorists is not always pretty and tough interrogation is not torture. There is no need to explore the foggy thought processes that lead some to forward self destructive propositions. We need only examine the reality that confronts us.

When lives are on the line we need to trust the professionals who have kept us safe. The current uproar revolves around 3 terrorists who were water boarded at a time when most people thought we were likely to be attacked at any moment. None of the “enhanced interrogation” techniques authorized by the Bush Administration was done outside the purview of our elected representatives. Legal opinions were sought out and followed. Appropriate congressional leaders were briefed as to the nature of the interrogation that would be used. Not one representative raised an eyebrow. For good reason. They understood the magnitude of threat and the restrained methods of interrogation that were approved.

   Now years later feeling politically potent and safer some back peddle full throttle proclaiming faux notions of torture and American values. American values do not include suicide and should never be distorted to endanger us. 

  Medical personnel were on hand as water boarding was very selectively applied. The very same procedure we have performed on thousands of members of our military as part of their training. Are our troops of less importance to Speaker Pelosi and her allies then captured terrorists? How come none of these compassionate pursuers of American values object to our military training techniques? 

The Bush administration bent over backwards to take the appropriate care before approving the techniques necessary to inflict sufficient discomfort, fear and panic among a handful of terrorists in order to obtain information that saved American lives.

Kind of like President Obama giving the professionals prior authority to put a bullet in the head of each of the three young pirates holding Captain Philips hostage.  

No finger nails were pulled out, no electrodes applied to tender regions, no limbs broken nor even teeth pulled. Yet our intelligence agencies, our justice department and administrators may hesitate to act in the future when action is essential. They may hesitate because of fear that their careful and professional decisions might be second guessed years from now. The damage to our protection network is already done and it is tangible. Does our current President have the courage to cut this witch hunt off at it’s knees before it goes any further?

Terrorists around the world are watching their computer screens receiving confirmation of the weakness they perceive among the Infidel’s leadership. 

Those who feel the interrogations we have used are a recruiting tool or will encourage our enemies to treat our captured military and civilians worse don’t understand our enemies. They can only cut a head off once. Did they slice off David Berg’s head because they thought we may water board one of their comrades? As they slit Danny Pear’s neck ear to ear after having him declare he was a Jew, were these butchers thinking about our enhanced interrogation techniques? 

The people intent on the demise of western civilization don’t design their methods or practices based on the civility of our response. Shop keepers, merchants, and professionals among those who hate us don’t suddenly become terrorists because of our actions or lack there of. Those who would behead and torture Americans do so because they have been raised to hate. We don’t mold their characters. They become terrorists because of the cultures from which they emerge. Wouldn’t it be nice if our acts of mercy or kindness could change them? Only children and the naive countenance such a ridiculous notion.
