What is it about romance (or other genre) writing that appeals to you?

I'm a sucker for a good love story. I've always been a hopeless romantic. I guess that's why my novels are mainly about romance, and the pursuit of true love. However, all of them have elements of suspense and intrigue as well.

Where do you draw your inspiration?

My inspiration comes from many places. I like to travel and I find inspiration in mostly everyplace I've been to. Especially if it's anywhere near a beach. Most of my books are set someplace where you'll find sizzling beaches, amazing sunsets, and breathtaking scenery. I also find inspiration through the people around me. I may be at the supermarket or airport and overhear a conversation that gives me a great idea, so I jot it down, and if I can, run home to my computer.

Advice for aspiring authors?

Don't give up. Keep on submitting. And always keep on writing, no matter how discouraging it may get. Find a writing routine that works for you and stick to it. Try to write something every day. Even if it's just a sentence or two.

Did you ever question your ability to write? If so what pulled you through?

Many times. I've often asked myself…Self: What the heck are you doing? Those are the times I really look deep and what I find is that I have to write. Most writers will tell you this. It's in their blood, their soul…they can't not write. The support of your family helps as well. And the encouragement and input I receive from my colleagues in my writing group keeps me on track.

Who do you look up to?

My mother. She was a strong woman and always gave me the courage to believe in myself. She was my biggest fan and I miss her terribly. She's the reason I started writing.

Three words that describe you?

Passionate, adventurous, & dedicated.

Most important possession?

Self confidence

Favorite movie and why?

Some Like It Hot…It made me laugh, but still had a romantic story line with lots of suspense, (the guy risking his life for a beautiful woman). And of course, I was in love with Tony Curtis.

If you could be granted one wish, what would it be?

Hmm…I'd have to say, as a writer, my wish would be that people would like/love my books.

Something most people don't know?

That's tough. I think most people that know me, know almost everything about me. Although, when I started writing, it wasn't until after my manuscript was accepted that people knew I was a writer. Except for my husband, of course.

What's your mantra for life? Live, laugh, love, & read.
