The Birthing of Healing Through Poetry
Habakkuk 2:2- And the Lord answered me, and said, write the vision and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry wait for it.because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
On November 2-2008 the Spirit of the Lord quickened me with this questions..How Do You Fulfill Your Dream”? I was like uh..What steps did you take to accomplish this miracle. Yes to see my poetry published and in book form is a miracle.
My opening Scripture was the beginning point..Write the Vision.
If the Lord has prompted you to write or do anything. Write it down. Put a Date on it. Even if you don’t know the title..Brainstorm…
When I began Healing Through Poetry, It was birthed through a tremendous storm. One of my sons had ran away from home and I was searching for his where-abouts. I had prayed, called friends, and called the police station but still no word. It had been about two weeks now since I had heard anything. I cried out God where is he? I heard in my spirit..Write”.
I was like what? Write what? I heard, Whose Voice Do You Hear? I began to look up scriptures on the different words and Nothing made any sense. So I began to write what I heard in my spirit..My first poem, Whose Voice Do You Hear? This was my beginning. I then found a poetry site online and placed it on it where other writers could read and critique it for me. It was a true learning experience.
Over the next few weeks I purchased a note-book and plastic protector sheets to keep my work neat. As various incidents would pop up in my life I would write. Writing became an outlet for me.
I kept journals and diaries to help me keep peace of mind. I would write, write, write. I would journal incidents and prayers. Then go back and write gratitude thanks to God when prayers were answered. I would praise God for the answers or just for the peace of mind.
I learned the meaning of whatsoever state you find yourself in to be content. I learned the true meaning of contentment. Philippians 4:11- Not that I speak in respect of what: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
And boy was it a learning process. For over the next year I found myself on an emotional roller-coaster. I was in and out of courts with not only one son but now two. The baby boy picked up where the other son dropped off. But through it all I continued to write.
Then this summer PublishAmerica sent me an email requesting my work. I was floored. Now my writing went from fun to serious. During this journey I learned to critique, edit, and the legal side of what to publish or not. But through it all my first printing is now available. To God be the Glory.
