Who is Sandra Bullock? Sandra Bullock was born in a Virginia suburb of Washington, DC, to an American voice teacher father and a German opera singer mother. She grew up on the road with her parents and younger sister. She often performed in the children's chorus of whatever production her mother performing in. Her singing talent later came in handy for her role as an aspiring country singer in The Thing Called Love (1993). Her family moved back to the Washington area when she was a teenager. She later enrolled in East Carolina University in North Carolina, where she studied acting. Soon afterward, she moved to New York to pursue a career on the stage. This led to acting in television programs and then features films. She gave memorable performances in Demolition Man (1993) and Wrestling Ernest Hemingway (1993), but did not achieve the stardom that seemed inevitable for her until her work in the smash hit Speed (1994). She now ranks as one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood.

Sandra (A Class-A actress) has adopted three dogs who did not come from a pet store. They were dogs with special needs that came from a shelter. Poppy is a three-legged Chihuahua-Pomeranian mix, Ruby is an amazing two-legged Chihuahua who walks on her hind legs, and recently reporters have conveyed that there is a third dog, BeBe, who also is a Chihuahua and is missing an eye.

Special needs dogs, like Poppy, Ruby and BeBe, are the most difficult to place in adoptive homes and are often candidates for euthanasia, so it is heart-warming to hear about people like Sandra who welcome these pups with special needs into their lives.
A little About Sandra Bullock’s Special Needs Dogs
Her dog Poppy lost a leg in an accident and was adopted from a Southern California shelter in September 2005, and Ruby, born with only two legs, was adopted in November 2006 from Bullock and BeBe came from Best Buddies Rescue of Long Beach and is missing an eye.
Tragic Accident That Has Changed Bullock’s Life
Sandra always makes sure her dogs are safe by bringing them with her all over the place, making sure they always had everything they need (like seatbelts in the car customized for dogs when traveling) and when she cannot be with them she makes sure there is always someone looking after them. She is very couscous about her dog’s safety because in 2008 in her car was struck by a drunk driver and she was involved in a plane accident, which she lost her entire pet family. These tragic events are the main reasons she became an advocate for dog safety. It was 10+ years ago, all her dogs died when they flew cargo on an airplane. She was devastated and vowed never to let anything bad happen to her pets again. Many people think she is going over the top, but she does not care. At least she knows her dogs are safe and she is making the world a better place by helping dogs with special needs.
What Has Sandra Bullock Done to Help Her Dogs with Special Needs?
Sandra has made a special wheelchair for two-legged Ruby and reflective safety vests, and custom seatbelts in her car to keep the pups safe while traveling. Sandra Bullock has quoted, "Any dog that is missing something is welcome in our house. If we cannot handle them, we find them a home. But they seem to find us.”
