Life of George
Life of George
Continued from something previous
Well, it finally got cool enough so I can work in my garage, so I decided to take care of Rumbling Julius.
I got a code from Walmart and AutoZone that said “Mis, #1 Cylinder”
I knew what a mis is, but I do not know which is the #1 Cylinder?
There are 4, I presumed running left to right, so I would start whatever I did with the left one.
I bought a Spark Plug Tester. It’s basically a rubber hose with a lightbulb in the middle. One end hooks to the Spark Plug and the other to the Spark Plug wire. Just like when the car is running only now there’s a lightbulb in the middle. If it does not flash you know something is wrong. Real handy-dandy gizmo.
Or at least it’s supposed to be.
Nothing comes easy in The Life of George.
The Spark Plugs are recessed.
Gad Zooks!
I mean RECESSED! I could hardly see the one I wanted. It was WAY down there!
I tried to put the tester on to no avail. It didn’t even come close.
So, I decided to pull the plug and see what it looked like.
I needed all of my socket extensions to get on it. And there was nothing left to turn. So I used a breaker-bar cause I could bend it up.
Note to self: Get long extension next time at Harbor Freight.
I got the plug out…it was fouled. It looked like I had the right cylinder. I went across the street to AutoZone, bought a new one. It came pre-gapped. I compared the gap to the old one and it was different. That was a good sign.
I put it in and everything runs good. There is no mis or engine light.
I’ll find out for sure tomorrow when I replenish.
If the vehicle blows-up don’t let me live as a vegetable.
Life goes on!
Cheers,
By George
