The government is now giving out loans to small and large businesses and it sounds good... until you think twice about what they are really doing.

These are "loans" that they are giving out, NOT bailouts. "Loans" are required to be paid back to debtors. Now the government is giving out loans to businesses, but this is OUR tax dollars that they are giving out. In the meantime, some of the companies and businesses are still in the lockdown stage and no businesses or sales are being conducted to generate income/revenues, yet they are still required to pay the bills. Some are still paying mortgages/rents plus the monthly utilities. And some are still in need of paying to the working employees 25% of their salaries since the government is supplementing for the other 75%. So, just think about it: NOTHING is for free! When it is called a "loan" the companies need to pay it back.

By the end of the lockdown, some companies and small businesses will have more debts to pay, but very little income or revenues have been generated, yet the liabilities of the companies/business are going to be more. More debts will have to be repaid. Many companies will file for bankruptcy, by that time the government will seize the companies/businesses, together with the loan that they have paid into it with our tax dollars.

Okay, does it sound good that the government gives it to the companies with one hand, then takes it back with another?

What if it is all for fattening up the companies before the One World Government takes over? Just think about it? (Of course, this is just my opinion).

Small business, while providing a large number of low-paying jobs, have always been very risky business to get into. When I taught in business schools, I believe statistics showed that 9 out of 10 new businesses fail after a year or two, primarily because they do not have enough initial cash capitalization to meet their cash flow needs. Most small businesses are started on a pipe dream to make money with little understanding of the underlying costs. Most small businesses, particularly in rural areas, are supported by other income and relatives working for little or no pay.

You're right about the loans. I read somewhere that the initial loan money from the SBA through the banks went to large businesses first, basically leaving no money for small businesses. Mark is right, many people who worked at a desk are now finding they can do the same work at home, so the whole business paradigm of people going to small shops to socialize and shop changed to doing those things on the Internet. Perhaps one half of small business will never return. Those people will have to be employed somehow.

The only way to be fair would be to give out direct payments to individuals like the one time $1200 to taxpayers. And the best way to do that would be to give more to the lower income people and less the rich.

Our mayor of Houston started a rent relief program with $15 million. Within 90 minutes of opening online for applications, the money was gone. 90% of the renters in this city will not be able to get any rent relief.

I believe a great depression may be coming long before an autocratic world government would take over.

Mark:

You have forgotten large companies normally have a lease signed that is requiring the to pay whether or not they run the business at home or in the stores. Lease and mortgages that are signed are still required to pay rent and mortgages which I think I have indicated in this article. Those who used sit at home to work online may somehow prosper a little bit but NOT the companies and stores that used to have tons of in-store shoppers. Those WILL BE THE ONES THAT GET HIT MOST AND MAY REQUIRE TO FILE FOR BANKRUPTCY.

Quite frankly, I do not see it will affect those small potatoes who used to work online without a store. Those people who sell in Amazon or ebay may pick up a little more for their businesses. They don't have a store to interact with people to begin with. My article is ONLY referring to large companies and businesses which the government is aiming to "help" by loaning them money.

I cannot see how any of the now closed small businesses will ever reopen and make enough under our "Virus safety precautions." In particular restaurants and places where people like to meet and congregate.... In the last two weeks I spoke to a number of people that, before, would be at a desk in an office, that now are at a desk at home and functioning perfectly saving the company thousands of dollars a month due to no longer needing a large office space... These should survive okay.. A "One World government?" I am an old guy and hopefully will not live to see it.

Stay well, sandie.
