Donald Trump is running scared. He’s afraid the economy will tank sometime this year and that will cause him to lose the election. That’s why he is downplaying the seriousness of the coronavirus, while accepting money from Congress to combat it without having asked them for it. He also put VP Pense in charge of telling the public about how everything is under control.  Now he has someone to blame when this virus really starts spreading.

His actions show he still doesn’t understand 3rd grade arithmetic. If the number of those affected doubled every day for 35 days, everyone on Earth would die from the virus. That will not happen, but it illustrates the point that Trump does not grasp the power of compounding at all. Note: 2^35 = 34.4 billion. That’s enough compounding power to affect everyone on Earth almost 5 times over.

But set that issue aside for the moment. Trump now wants another tax cut for the wealthy on the misguided belief that it will stimulate the economy. He believes a tax cut will offset the effects of the virus, and it will help him win the election. What an imbecile! 90 percent of tax cuts go straight into the personal wealth accounts of the wealthy. The cuts also blow a big hole in the federal budget equal to the revenue loss. Of course, he would blame the sinking economy on the Democrats.  With such convoluted thoughts going on in one pea-sized brain, we are likely in for the most grotesque election season in our history this year.

Fortunately, his 46 percent approval rating comes from the lower one-half of the IQ curve, but that also means there are 54 percent of us who are a lot smarter than Trump and his no-brainers.
