Recently I had the opportunity to read at Union Hall Elementary in Chatham, VA. It was a very rewarding experience! In addition to reading to the 2nd grade, I was interviewed by the Gifted Students who were a combination of 4th and 5th graders. They had awesome questions! They were looking to their future thinking of ways that what I had accomplished could help them reach their own goals. Now, I have not made it to the top (I am still climbing that mountain), but I applied myself which is what I encouraged them to do. I gave them a quote to hang onto, "The only limitations that you have are those that you place on yourself." In other words, if you say "I can't" you never will, but if you say "I'll try" you may actually make it. The best part of my own journey is being able to inspire the children I talk with to stretch themselves. So many kids need that self-esteem boost.
