Psst ... It's Penny Sue “Rich is out for his morning jog on the beach, so I have a free moment. I just had to set the record straight after that catty remark Leigh made yesterday. It’s true I’ve been married three times, but I was really young for two of them and the third was Daddy’s idea. He set me up with Winston, that two-timing skunk. But, I’m older now and just know that Rich is my soul mate. We’re living together in Daddy’s condo here in New Smyrna Beach, next door to Leigh. No more rushing into marriage for me, I’ve learned my lesson. I intend to get to know Rich really well before I say ‘I do’ again. So far, so good. He’s a sweet, gentle, and passionate guy—so passionate, it gives me a hot flash just thinking about him. So things in this condo are going great.
“Ruthie and Kevin are still living next door with Leigh while Ruthie’s bookstore and apartment are being built. You remember Kevin, my scholar cousin? Well, he and Ruthie seem to be another match made in Heaven. Except for Ruthie’s New Age leanings, they’re truly two peas in a pod. It’s Leigh that has nothing going, which is the reason her remark yesterday was so catty. She’s a fine one to talk, having had only one marriage and no boyfriend on the horizon! Hmmm, I guess I’m being catty now. In fairness, Leigh hasn’t gotten over her divorce yet. She was truly blindsided by Zack, had no idea he’d been running around on her for years. I’ve tried to give her some advice, but she won’t listen, unlike Guthrie.
“Guthrie! He’s a blubbering wreck since Timothy broke up with him. Seems Timothy met a hot physicist in Houston (he’s in the space program, you know) and he dropped Guthrie. The poor man is absolutely crushed.
“Oh, I hear Rich on the deck. Gotta run. But if anyone needs relationship help, let me know. Contrary to Leigh’s snide remark, I am something of an expert on the subject. Ta Ta.” —Penny Sue
