The second day of Sakura con has come and is nearly gone. It was in the beautiful Seattle Convention center this year. The dealer's room was magnificent! The concert this year was a hard rock band, and the lead singer was just amazing, beautiful, moved splendidly, every emotive.. but it was LOUD… OMG! The floor vibrated. I had to plug my ears just to ear the sound of what they were trying to put out.
I've never seen so many people flee a concert!
Yesterday I got to go to a couple of drawing classes though. One was by a Japanese guest, who's name I fear I can not remember at the moment. Through a translator she talked about drawing and then we all played a game. Someone would pick a theme and give three clues. The first one was Ichigo from Bleach… Big black kimono, big sword. We had four minutes to draw.
So we all drew and then we found out that the pics would go to the front and we'd all vote on which one was more.. "That's it!" The Japanese artist picked my drawing! I was so pleased! It didn't win in the vote, but oh well.
She picked my second drawing too, said it looked very Japanese.
She said what makes a character attractive is that it is different from the rest. Not that it has big eyes or long hair.. but that it's different.
Today I colored a one of my older drawings with marker and did another drawing of Jewls too.
I really find that I want to do a manga with Jewls. If I could finish just a few pages of one tonight and hand it out tomorrow, I could have met my goal! I doubt that will happen, but I will try to do a few pages tonight. Maybe I can finish one, a short mini story by the time I go back to work.
