Gypsies - the Romany people - have been stereotyped throughout history. My goal in writing the novel A Gypsy on Tenth Avenue was to tell a story, and within the story to detail accurately how many contemporary Gypsy people live, if/why/how they may travel. Into this is woven a history of the Rom people. Research, research, research - I even learned some of the language (at least the language of the Rom people based in contemporary Manhattan).
