My Former Emory Creative Writing Student's Book Signing was a Success! Mary Gilmartin is a published Author!
When Mary walked into my creative writing class, in the Emory Continuing Education program in Atlanta three years ago, she said she wanted to be a published author.
Well, on Saturday June 2, 2012 at the Artisan Restaurant in Historic Stone Mountain Village, Mary had the book signing for her debut novel, Adventures With Easton.
It is the story of a young boy who overcomes his adversities through his dreams and friendships. In Mary’s book you travel into a magical world created through the eyes of a nine-year-old. This is the first book in a trilogy.
When I received Mary’s email, inviting me to her book signing, it was a thrill to see someone you helped achieve their dream: “I thought you would like to know that one of your former students is now a published author…
“Your creative writing class I took at Emory three years ago was a great inspiritation to my crafting the art of writing. My first book was written last year over a period of six months. Today, I am working on the next phase of writing , a children’s book that I plan to illustrate.”
At the book signing, Mary was beaming as she autographed copies of her book and talked about her writing career.
