The film "The Purge" wasn't all that good but "The Purge 2, Anarchy" was noticeably better. I have an idea for a third film which I would like feedback on. The film would actually involve two purges and I would like to set it a suburb of Philadelphia as that is the city of my birth. In the beginning, an ex army or marine veteran defends his home on Purge Night by planting claymore mines in his front yard. Technically, according to Purge 2, they are illegal even on purge night.
That night, the vet's twelve year old son is taking his turn watching the house when a large group of young adult males pass by the house. The boy hears one of them say, "Maybe we should go to this house." He panics and sets off the claymores, killing or injuring many of them, one of the injured is the police chief's son.
The next morning, the father removes the evidence of any explosives used and just in time. Later that morning, the police show up and carry out a search of the property on the grounds that unauthorised explosives were used. They don't find anything that would stand up in court.
A year later and just three hours before the next purge, the police show up at the vet's house with a search warrant. They not only find and remove the claymores, they confiscate all the weapons in the house, even the legal ones. However, no arrests are made because the chief says that it's too close to the purge to do all the paperwork. Thus the family is left defenseless.
The vet is quite resourceful and manages to make some petrol bombs and has a couple of knives on hand. Obviously, the house is attacked and after taking a few out with the bombs, the family (father, mother, 12 year old son and 6 year old daughter) escape thanks to the fathers planning. However, the attackers do kill the dog and the last thing they see as they escape is their house burning to the ground.
What nobody knows is that the father has more weapons: guns, grenades and such buried in the woods some three miles away. He puts his family in an emergency makeshift shelter he had constructed and then goes off to get revenge on the police chief who endangered his family.
Side plot: Every year a bunch of young men from England (Liverpool or Manchester) come to the US to participate in The Purge because it gives them a buzz. Some like the idea of legally duffing up a bunch of Yanks. This year, they decided to go to Philadelphia. Somewhere in the story, theirs and the father's paths cross and they join together to help the father seek his revenge. Does he kill the police chief in the end? I'm not going to tell you that now.
