This is a review of Chapter 20: Attack of “First Light / The Second Expedition” in the “Yah and the Space Cadets” series. Summary of Chapter 20: Attack
Upon their return to Planet Hougrid, the Empire’s forces are attacked by surprise; but for their good fortune, Lusolf had just arrived with the cruisers and counterattacked the enemy forces destroying 12 of their 14 spaceships! They even captured the two top-ranking officers: Yalert and Dirah, both lieutenant generals. The cadets witness the interrogations of some of the prisoners, including the officers. After Yah’s and Sid’s spacecraft are fixed, the cadets go to planet Uquet, which can be used as a platform to launch constant attacks against asteroids, meteors, comets and other space debris that could crash against AquaSoil. They chose six spaceships to be remotely control for their initial attack.
Excerpt: A few minutes later, both of the wounded soldiers were taken to the infirmary. Sytei ordered some robots to provide food and water to the rest of the prisoners while she and a couple of Tesgans made arrangements for their accommodations. The two lieutenant generals would share the lower deck of a cruiser, while the other twenty prisoners were given the lower decks of two different space cruisers. They would have to remain there for a few weeks. They could leave under escort to a different cruiser to exercise or enjoy some privacy. The other two prisoners, for the time being, would remain in the hospital.
“Cadets and crew members listen to me” said d’Nor. “These people will try to escape; they will try to make life miserable for us if we give them the slightest chance.”
“Why don’t we separate them and put them in individual cells?” asked Joe.
“The reason is that we want to test our own ability to keep prisoners in accordance with the Ancient and Honorable Code of War. If we lock them up in tight, claustrophobic enclosures, we would be breaking the law, contravening our traditions and dishonoring our civilization. We want to guard the prisoners but, at the same time, give them room not to suffocate; we also need to provide them with a respectful environment. It is a challenging task, but, so far we have succeeded at it,” answered d’Nor.

Resumen del Capítulo 20: Ataque
Tras su regreso al planeta Hougrid, las fuerzas del Imperio fueron atacadas en forma sorpresiva, pero para su buena suerte, Lusolf acababa de arribar con los cruceros y contraatacó a las fuerzas enemigas ¡destrozando 12 de sus 14 naves espaciales! Hasta capturaron a los dos oficiales de mayor rango: Yalert y Dirah, ambos tenientes generales. Los cadetes son testigos de los interrogatorios hechos a los prisioneros, incluyendo los oficiales. Después de que se arreglaron las naves de Yah y de Sid, los cadetes se dirigen al planeta Uquet, el cual puede usarse como una plataforma para lanzar ataques constantes contra asteroides, meteoros, cometas y otros desechos espaciales que pudieran estrellarse contra AcuaTerra. Escogen seis naves espaciales para ser controladas en forma remota para su ataque inicial.
Extracto: Minutos después, los dos soldados heridos fueron llevados al dispensario. Sytei le ordenó a varios robots que trajesen comida y agua para el resto de los prisioneros mientras ella y un par de Tesganos hacían los preparativos para darles alojamiento. Los dos tenientes generales compartirían la cubierta inferior de un crucero, mientras que los otros veinte prisioneros fueron asignados a las cubiertas inferiores de dos cruceros espaciales diferentes. Tenían que quedarse allí unas cuantas semanas. Podrían ir bajo escolta a otro crucero para hacer ejercicio o para disfrutar de cierta privacidad. Por el momento, los otros dos prisioneros permanecerían en el hospital.
«Cadetes y tripulación, escúchenme», dijo d’Nor. «Estos guerreros van a querer escaparse; van a tratar de hacer que la pasemos mal si les damos la más mínima oportunidad».
«¿Por qué no los separamos y los ponemos en celdas individuales?» preguntó Joe.
«La razón es que queremos poner a prueba nuestra propia habilidad para custodiar prisioneros de acuerdo con el Antiguo y Honorable Código de Guerra. Si los encerramos en recintos apretados, claustrofóbicos, estaríamos quebrantando la ley, infringiendo nuestras tradiciones y deshonrando nuestra civilización. Queremos custodiar a los prisioneros pero, al mismo tiempo, darles espacio para que no se sofoquen; también necesitamos proporcionarles un entorno respetuoso. Es una tarea desafiante pero, hasta la fecha, lo hemos logrado», contestó d’Nor.
