Book Trailer - Author Jonell Kirby Cash At 82 years of age I wrote my first novel, A RING, A DANCE, A SECOND CHANCE (Tate, 2011) and realized a long time dream (or expectation) that I’d put aside to accommodate other roles such as daughter, sister, parent, step-parent/ surrogate parent—and Kudzu parent. As these roles suggest, “family” has been central to my life and over the years I pursued my passion for learning about people--and families; I hold a Doctorate of Education from UGA with a specialization in Counseling Psychology; and I was one of the early practitioners certified as a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. Before I was a writer I was a teacher--I taught in all levels of education in Georgia, and for over 30 years I was a member of the graduate faculty in WVa before I retired as Professor of Psychology and Counseling. After retiring and moving back to Georgia, I continued my work with families as a CASA volunteer, and with couple under stress and with disruptive children and troubled families. Presently, I’m busy with book related activities, including teaching short courses in writing fiction, and I’ve now started writing a sequel that lets us catch up a decade later with the couple who married in their senescence.
