How do authors write? Many people ask published, or aspiring writers how they come up with their ideas for stories. Listening to other writers speak, it's interesting to see the different influences they discuss when crafting fictional worlds.
Some will say their personal life provides plenty of ideas, while others will use imagination as their guide. And there are some of us who receive a story in a moment in our minds without warning. A friend once described it like this: "Writers are conduits for stories that want to be told". There is more truth in this statement than people realize.
I should know, I'm one of them.
