Well, as I sit here in front of my laptop, with my nose itching and eyes watering like crazy, I think about what I should write here as my first entry. The allergies have made my mind gone empty.
I will be posting excerpts here from my two books that I will be self-publishing. All of my writings suit all ages--children and adults alike. I write mainly fantasy short fiction and inspirational pieces, such as fables and fairy tales. I am also a poet. With poems, I focus on Christianity and nature wonders. I also write inspirational poems.
I am a lover of fine arts, and to me, writing is a form of exquisite art. Since I have lost my eyesight four years ago at age seventeen, writing is my only creative project I can work on. I used to be an artist. Like art, I have never been taught writing--not professionally. I learned English when I was eleven. To learn more about me, go to http://www.shirleycheng.com.
For all of you who are curious, I use a screen reader called Jaws. It reads each key I hit and tells me what is on the screen. But it does not work with every software out there, and it cannot read graphic text. I have encountered many difficulties during my writing projects since I have become an author at age twenty. Jaws works strangely when the document gets long. It sometimes will freeze the computer. Thus, I need to remember to save every sentence I type in case everything gets lost!
I'd love to hear from any readers and authors out there. I'm always interested in making new friends from around the world. I especially would like to meet fellow blind and/or disabled writers.
