Pascha at the Duck Pond
We’ve had several visits with all the animals at the Duck Pond. I’m sure you remember Capers the cat, and Fearless the duck.
In today’s story we are going to follow a few of the neighbors at the Duck Pond and learn how each celebrates the season of lent. I know lent is past and so has Easter but it is never too late to remember what it represents.
The first is Rigid Rooster. Rigid Rooster is just like his name. He is very rigid, especially when he makes up his mind about something. Rigid thinks he needs to do extra good deeds and sacrifices for lent.
Capers the Cat doesn’t pay attention to Rigid or the season. He continues to do what he always does no matter who likes it or not.
Henry the Hamster is sick for the whole season of lent. He needs friends to help bring him food so he can get better.
And Charity the Churchmouse who is also like her name. She does everything she can to help others regardless of the season or the reason.
Finally Pascha (Easter) comes and everyone is there to celebrate but 2 of the neighbors. Can you guess who they are? What happened? Why did they miss the celebration?

This book teaches a good lesson that good deeds do not have a season, but can be practiced at any time. There is always a time to help your friends and neighbors. Just ask the neighbors at the Duck Pond.

You will also find a list of how to say the universal Easter greeting “Christ is risen! Indeed, He is risen.” in many different languages. There is English, of course, but also Spanish, Arabic, Hungarian, and even Japanese. See if you can say each one.
