It was a very corner village in the country, quite far from the developed and metropolitan cities, where even cell phone connectivity as well was not available. There was a big palace in the suburbs of that village and a small forest just behind that palace. A long time back a very rich person named ‘Raja Sudarshana Varma’ got constructed that big building in that tiny village. No one did see but rumours were so that Raja Sudarshana Varma got fetched women into the palace by force and then raped them and later on made them gang raped by his servants before got them cruelly tortured and murdered. As per the rumours, he had got the husbands of their women also tortured and murdered before the very eyes of those women. Anyhow there was no direct eye witness to any of these atrocities. It was further has been gossiped that after the natural death of that Raja Sudarshana Varma in that palace, all the souls of those who were murdered there fall onto the village and caused a great havoc in it. Some of the deaths of the villagers were attributed to those devils. And then a sorcerer was called into the village and he spell bound all the devils in that palace and closed the doors of it. He instructed to the then village head that the doors of that palace should never be opened and if they were opened all the devils which were spell bound in the palace would become free once again and cause even more great havoc. That village head instructed the same to his son Bangaram to see not let the doors of that palace would ever open at any time after he had become the village head. Even that Bangaram was not a direct eye witness to any of those atrocities, he did see some of the dead bodies and heard the stories and believed completely what has been said regarding the devils and the palace.
Through some papers, Rajesh, the great grandson to Raja Sudarshana Varma came to know that their family owned a big palace in that far away village. He had gone to that village and saw that palace and impressed a lot because of the enormity and beauty of it. He invested lot of money and got it renovated. Later on he entered into the palace with his friends to enjoy some days in it.
On both the occasions, when he started to renovate it and when he was about to enter into it with his friends, one old woman Sulochana who was the wife of Bangaram with the help of some villagers tried her level best to stop him from doing so. After hearing the stories regarding Raja Sudarshana Varma, the palace and the devils in it from her husband many a time, she too believed all of that. But with the help of the present village chief Mangal, Rajesh could win over her on both the occasions.
But after entering into the palace, Rajesh and the rest were started feeling an unknown fear. None of them could know why they were feeling it like that. They did not express their feelings in the beginning since Rajesh would feel bad. All of them knew very well how much Rajesh was besotted with the building
One person, besides that Sulochana, who did not like much Rajesh’s renovating that palace and entering into it was Manohar, Rajesh’s uncle. Manohar was a typical and peculiar character. He adored bad angels. He learnt the art of adoring bad angels from one woman named ‘Kasma.’ One of those bad angels was ‘Loki’ whom Manohar adored against the advice of Kasma since he attracted a lot towards that bad angel because of its power. But later on he came to know the sadism, cunningness and mischievousness of Loki but he was helpless. It was not easily possible to stop adoring and going away from Loki once fallen into it its trap. Anyhow, he helped Rajesh’s family a lot with the help of Loki. Despite the age difference between him and his uncle, Manohar was like a friend to Rajesh. They both have got lot of love and affection on each other. But in this regard, Rajesh did not care his uncle much. Helpless Manohar as well accompanied Rajesh and his friends when they came to the palace to spend their time jovially.
Among them, Vineet was one of Rajesh’s friends and he came into that palace with his lover Sailaja who was a gynecologist. Vineet’s sister Susmita, who was a psychologist, as well with them on whom Rajesh had got special interest. He was loving her and trying so desperately to get her love. Prameela was another character among them who was trying to get the love of Rajesh so badly but not completely with a genuine way or with good intentions. She had some financial compulsions in trying to get Rajesh’s love towards her. She was the daughter of Rajesh’s family friend and her family was in financial difficulties. If she could marry Rajesh, all her problems would be solved. When Susmita as well became amicable and amiable towards Rajesh and started showing signs of loving towards him, Prameela’s heart burnt with rage and envy. She made a plan to remove Susmita completely from her way.
Thanuja was another beautiful and important character in the novel and she started loving Sasikant who was the friend of Rajesh. Thanuja was a relative to Rajesh. There were kitchen staff Dabbu, Raju and his sister Mallika as well. An illicit relationship has been developed between Dabbu and Mallika which was exposed to all the people in the end by Mallika’s brother Raju himself. Other two characters were Mrudula and Vardhan. Vardhan was also a friend of Rajesh and he too came with him into the palace with his wife Mrudula. Vardhan had got a weakness to look greedily at other women and in the palace he particularly attracted towards Thanuja.
The people in the palace started imagining things. They have started seeing ghosts and subjected themselves to horrendous experiences. Sasaikant had seen a ghost whose right eye was plucked out and all its body was with full of knife cuts. The same ghost had been seen by Vardhan two times. Prameela was subjected to a strange touch experience in the bath room. Later she had seen her previous lover Pramod in that palace who had committed suicide two years back because Prameela cruelly cut off herself from him rejecting his love in the middle. Then she was possessed by the right eyeless ghost which Sasikant and Vardhan had seen before.
Thanuja as well had faced strange experiences in the palace. She was raped by an unknown supernatural creature. Everyone started feeling fear to stay in the palace. As his uncle as well was urging, Rajesh had decided to move away from the palace reducing the intended stay to the minimum.
When Prameela had got an opportunity, to remove Susmita from her way forever, she did not hesitate to implement her plan. She bribed Vardhan with her body and made him agree in executing it. According to the plan, she and Vardhan should take Susmita deep into the forest and leave her there without her knowledge and return to the palace. As that forest was so dangerous with poisonous snakes and the ways in it were quite deceiving, there would be no chance to Susmita to return to the palace. It did go as she planned until they three went deep into the forest. But when the three suddenly stopped at an immobile snake, while Susmita and Vardhan watching it with surprise and interest, Prameela was kidnapped by four thugs.
The thugs who kidnapped Prameela, kept her in a small hut in the forest. The idea in the four people to kidnap Prameela so was to enjoy her one after one. It had become a big nightmare to Prameela as those four bad guys raping her one after one without giving much rest to her in between.
The disappearance of Prameela put all the inmates of the palace in dismay and shock. Especially Rajesh became anxious and worried. He had to face lot of problems if they would return from there without Prameela as Prameela’s family already had got anger on Rajesh’s family since Rajesh was not interested in loving or marrying Prameela. He took the help of the village chief Mangal to search in the forest for Prameela. Mangal provided them with two young persons Bhadram and Vikram who were well known about the forest. What Rajesh, his friends and Mangal did not know was Bhadram was one of the four guys who kidnapped Prameela. That Bhadram all the time misled the search party in the forest and saw that they never would reach the place where they kept Prameela.
Rajesh became very much upset and excited because of their failure to find Prameela. He had to face very bad situation if he left that place without Prameela. Under compulsive circumstances, he asked his uncle Manohar to take the help of the bad angel Loki. Manohar was really very much worried on hearing that. He was trying to keep himself away from Loki, a mischievous, cunning and dangerous bad angel with nasty and unthinkable desires. Moreover now it was asking for his right eye and there was no way to get its help without giving what she wanted from his body. But as the situation turned out like that and because of his love and affection on his nephew, Rajesh, Manohar agreed to that. He prayed Loki for the help by giving his right eye to her. Either by the Loki’s grace or by something else they could find Prameela. The incessant rain stopped and all the people left the palace in their vehicles after Rajesh got it closed as usual.
There were romantic descriptions at the appropriate places and I tried to keep the sex in them to minimum and necessary. There were elaborative analyzations on sex and mind and they are all my own. Nothing has been written to support or encourage immoral behavior. The immoral behviour of some of the characters in it is aimed at only to show the capriciousness of the mind and crazy driving force of the sex.
I did not try to write the novel particularly with a style. I have written it in the natural way it comes to me. In my opinion a novel should be so that it is easily understandable to the reader without particular effort on his part. I did try to keep my novel so that it would be easily understandable even to those people as well who are having only minimum standard in English.
