"Accept Me" by Larry S. Chengges Dear Fellow Authors/Poets and Readers,
Has anyone heard of the author or "claim to be author" Brit Reese. This person contacted me today through the message board here at AD, making a very false claim as being the author of the poem I posted on my Bio page, "Accept Me." I am posting here the message I received today from Brit Reese and my responses:

Unfortunatley you have given credit to Larry as the Author of the Poem "Accept Me"
I have been fighting an uphill battle trying to get proper credit for my poem. I wrote this way back in 1988. This has been an absolute nightmare fixing this everytime that I see that it pops up on someone's blog giving Larry credit for something for which he did not write. I honestly have not written a lot of poetry since then, however, I am very passionate about the poems that I have written and have copyrighted, "Accept Me" is one of these poems. I am just appalled as to the lengths that this has spread. Please correct your credit for this poem to reflect the true Author.

You claim that you wrote "Accept Me" in 1988. Well I attended college from 1976-1980 and I had a poster of this poem hanging on my dorm room wall the entire four years that I was in college. I purchased the poster at a local book store in my hometown in 1976. I had read the poem prior to that date, I believe in 1973 or 1974 and had loved it, so when I saw it on a poster I had to buy it for my college room. It was exactly as is posted on my bio page and written by Mr. Larry S. Chenggs. Therefore, I will not remove his name from my bio page. If you wrote the poem in 1988, then you must have copied it from him. Unless you can prove that you wrote the poem prior to 1973, then I will continue to give Larry Chenggs the credit he deserves. Thank you.

Hi Brit Reese:
I did make a mistake on my posting of "Accept Me" on my bio page. I left off the final word of the poem, "Me" and have now added it. I also spelled Larry's last name wrong: It is Chengges, not Chenggs which I have also corrected. If it weren't for you making a false claim to that poem, I may not have reread it on my bio page and caught those two mistakes. Thank you.
I am just a concerned person who does not like to see people claiming another author's work as their own. I truly believe in giving credit where credit is due and in this case the credit for the original poem "Accept Me" as I have posted on my Bio page has been given to the correct author, Mr. Larry S. Chengges.
