Petition to stop newspaper from doing away with author/reader section
If you live in the Atlanta area, you may have heard that the AJC (Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper) has announced plans to drop its position of book review editor and, possibly, the entire book review section that runs on Sundays.
The National Book Critics Circle has launched a campaign to save the AJC's books section, as well as threatened book review pages across the country.
face=Georgia size=2>As we all know, writers need reviewers to help spread the word about our books-not to mention how they introduce us to wonderful new books, and help guide our critical thinking about what we read.
I hope you'll consider signing an online petition to save the book review section of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. To date, the online petition has gathered over 1,000 signatures, including, according to the NBCC blog cited above, the signatures of James Lee Burke, Michael Connelly, Dennis Lehane, Allan Gurganus, and many other noted authors.
