Amazon.com Sales Rankings Are An Enigma 7/3/2003 12:52:47 PM
Author Jay Dubya has no idea what the Amazon.com Sales Ranking system represents even though twelve of his e-books have cracked the Amazon.com Top 100. Twelve of my ebooks have penetrated the Amazon Top 100, the lowest Sales Ranked being Pot of Gold (#40). This is supposed to be good but I haven't the slightest idea of what all of this means except the fact that the books have each stayed in the Top 1000 for about one day each. I do know that the Top 100 are evaluated and re-ranked hourly and the Top 100,000 re-positioned daily. The rest of the Amazon.com products are re-ranked monthly. So what does all of this mean? Amazon.com is mum about its product sales ranking system, so I suppose the Sales Ranking is an enigma that is exclusive knowledge only to Amazon.com. And when I see some of my friends books Sales Ranked at over 1,000,000, all I can tell you is that #40 for Pot of Gold doesn't seem that bad.
