I prefer not to publicly discuss politics, religion, or sports. But I'm steamed up enough to make an exception. There are three recent events that have gotten my goat and I need to vent.

First, there is the case of the representative that tried to access the Capital without displaying the required identification. When she was confronted by a police officer she got into a physical confrontation and hit, or attempted to hit him with her cell phone. I haven't heard of any denial of these reports, so I assume they are true.This lady's case was presented to a grand jury and for reasons that escape me, she was not indicted.

I can only say that if I refused to comply with the lawful order of a police officer and took a swing at him or her, I would not have gotten a free pass. How about you?

Second, another of our "servants" was involved in a traffic accident in the wee hours and exhibited weird behavior when the investigating police officers arrived at the scene. Police supervisors intervened and the driver was driven home without being subjected to a field sobriety test. How nice for him.

Last but not least, the office of another representative under investigation for suspicion of serious criminal activity was searched with a valid search warrant. Leaders from both sides of the aisle were outraged that the sanctity of their kingdom had been violated. They alleged that the legal authorities had overstepped their bounds and that those God-like men and women on the Hill have some special protection when it comes to searches that the rest of us common folks don't have. I certainly hope the courts don't agree with that argument.

Is it possible that the reason for their low approval ratings is to some degree self-inflicted?
