Our language contains many nuances. When talking to others, do you choose your words with care so they reflect what you want?
If I tell some one I am irritated, does it mean the same thing as if I said I was angry? Or irate?
Different words designate the degree of emotion. The same emotion can be described in different ways to signify intensity or the lack there of.
Offhand remarks can be damaging to otheres if not thought out. But that takes away form 'off hand' remarks, and they become thoughtful.
I would rather think about things and be thought a little slow in responding than to be thought of as rude or spiteful.
I want my words to convey my thoughts well, not just what someone else thinks they mean.
Some words are over or mis used. I often say 'I love that' when what I mean is to say 'I like it'. But it sometimes seems lackluster to simply say it is liked. This diminishes the word 'love' by over use.
What a dilemma! I don't like the twisting of English, but suppose I must accept it, especially my own part in it.
